Setting Up Your Store on Instagram

Step by Step Guide on Selling on Instagram
How to Sell on an Instagram Page
-
Set your business goals
Before you set-up your Instagram Business Page, you should establish your business goals and your plans on how you will get there. This includes naming your products, your branding, and the prices of each of your products. Take a look at what your competitors are doing to get an idea of how you should market yourself and what you should do different. -
Creating your Instagram Page
Create a unique name for your business Instagram account and add your bio. Your bio should include details such as your location, a description of your business, any key information (phone number or email), and a unique business hashtag if you will be using one. Remember, you can start selling on Instagram even without a website, so don’t worry about that! -
Prepare a content plan
Before you can post and start selling via Instagram, you need to figure out what kind of content you’re going to post. To do this, you need to prepare a content plan. A content plan includes at least one month worth of posts (how often you post is up to you, but we recommend posting at least 3 times a week) and any ads you plan on launching. Having a content plan saves you time because you don’t have to stress about posting on the day itself, thereby reducing the number of errors on your post as well.
Remember, you don’t need to just post photos of your products on your Instagram page. Some things you can include on your content plan are:
- Updates on promos, discounts, loyalty programs, and customer reviews
- Tips, hacks, advice on how to use and care for your products
- Your company history, vision, achievements, and plans
- Fun facts, jokes, memes, quizzes, user-generated content
-
Prepare your products
Just like with an e-commerce website, customers are more likely to be attracted to your products if they are presented in an engaging and attractive manner. You don’t necessarily need to hire a product photographer for this, but if you have the extra budget for it, then we recommend you invest in one, especially since Instagram is primarily an image-centric app. Position your products next to a window that receives lots of natural light. You can use different kinds of fabric, cartolina paper, or even gift wrapping paper as your background. Make sure your products are flawless, so check for any wrinkles, tears, or scratches. -
Write engaging captions
Instagram social selling is all about connecting with your audience. To do this, you’ll need to be as engaging as possible. The more followers you have that interact with your post, the more Instagram will show your post to its users. Make your captions as unique as possible. You’ll want to stick to shorter captions which drive a punch. Remember that Instagram crops your captions and only keeps the first two lines (the rest are hidden with a see more button) so try to keep all the important information within those two lines. Use emojis to draw attention and make your copy more fun. Don’t forget to add a call-to-action like order now or call us today." -
Growing your audience
Instagram makes it easy for social sellers to grow their audience and followers without spending anything at all! It’s all about how you write your content and use hashtags strategically. Selling on Instagram allows you to use hashtags to easily target customers no matter where they are in the Philippines. For example, you sell coffee beans and would like to target more people in Bataan. You can use the hashtag #freshcoffeebeansBataan so users in Bataan can easily find you. You can also use other more generic hashtags related to your niche (such as coffee related hashtags) so coffee enthusiasts in the Philippines can find you and follow you as well. For a quick way to grow your audience, you can host a giveaway where users tag their friends in the comments and share the post on their Story for a chance to win one of your products.
